2. Reward big and often. You can’t be expected to stay motivated so late at night, so it’s important to have things to look forward to. Wrote a particularly long sentence? Watch a music video. Finished a paragraph? Eat a cookie. Decided on a thesis statement? Take a five minute Tumblr break and don’t return to the paper for another hour.

1. The importance of a fun tab. It’s always helpful to have one tab dedicated to a steady rotation of Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Gmail, etc. This way, when you’re about to make a breakthrough, you can always count on being distracted when that (1) appears, causing you to lose the rare epiphany.
